Thompson Park Zoo
JCPHS is having a FREE bike safety training on August 31, 2010. The training will be held at Thompson Park Zoo in Watertown. Bike Drivers Ed A Free Hands-On Training for Bike Safety Educators Funded by a grant from the NYS Governors Traffic Safety Committee By attending this training you will gain the skills necessary to instruct students in the following: ü Age appropriate bicycle handling skills ü Bicycle Laws ü Cyclists responsibilities ü Proper bike and helmet fit ü Use of gears and brakes ü How to avoid crashes ü Skill Drills Trainers: Lois Chapman: Cornell Local Roads Program, Bicycle and Pedestrian Specialist A Representative from the Bicycle Education Program at Bike New York Participants will receive a copy of the Bike New York Bike Drivers Ed youth cycling skills curriculum. The training workshop will address different models of bike education and safety strategies. We will also set up and run bike handling skills activities. Please bring a bike helmet and a bicycle in good working condition if you have them available. MUST RSVP
